As we continue to enhance and expand the Tomahawk Institute® we are reaching more learners and communities. Our expert-created online platform offers a library of on-demand training modules for corporate clients and law enforcement teams to help them gain valuable background knowledge and reinforce in-person content.
Internationally, we provide access to three corporate clients and two law enforcement clients. Domestically, the Tomahawk Institute provides access to four corporate clients and nearly 80 law enforcement clients.
We work to continuously improve access and the quality of the content on the platform. So far in 2024, we’ve:
- Enrolled 3,000 New Jersey law enforcement officers to receive approved annual continuing education credits for active shooter response skills.
- Redesigned the Patrol Officer Tactical Response course, which now includes instructional models for interior response, an expanded general movement module for uncommon tactical situations, and Dynamic Clearance integration.
- Redesigned our Active Threat: Baseline, De-Escalation, and Situational Awareness courses so they can be delivered entirely to clients’ Learning Management Systems (via SCORM connect).
- Identified and resolved technical issues to ensure compatibility between our SaaS provider and Learning Management System, making access more streamlined for over 30,000 learners.
New Course: Workplace Violence Prevention
We’re excited to launch this new course to satisfy a new California law (CA Labor Code 6401.9). The law requires certain employers in California to establish, implement, and maintain an effective workplace violence prevention plan and offer tailored training to their employees. Our interactive Workplace Violence and Active Threat Prevention course provides information about how to prevent or respond to violence and strategies to avoid physical harm. Although filmed in a public venue, our methodology is applicable to any environment. It can be tailored to the client and is updated annually to reflect any changes in the law.
The course also:
- Provides definitions of specified terms
- Directs the user to the appropriate individual for questions about the plan, reporting of incidents and concerns
- Identifies corrective measures to include how to seek assistance
- Provides for the collection of compliance data (self-affirmation)
