Tactical First Aid for First Responders
This course teaches skills to remediate preventable causes of traumatic death that frequently occur in emergency situations. Our training topics include:
- Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) basics
- Response to active law enforcement incidents within state EMS systems
- Tactical and rescue terminology and operations
- Rescue Task Force concepts: Hot, Warm, and Cold Zone care
- Casualty movement and evacuation techniques
- Threat assessment considerations
- Basic life support and tactical casualty care techniques
- Comprehensive, competency-based student demonstration
Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC)
TECC focuses on the crucial and priority medical actions you can take during different phases of a traumatic event. While TECC has a tactical focus, it takes an all-hazards approach to providing care outside the normal operating conditions of most EMS agencies, such as responding to a mass casualty or active shooter event.
Our training topics include:
- Hemorrhage control, including tourniquets, wound packing, and haemostatic agents
- Airway management
- Respiratory distress and chest trauma
- Hypothermia, including the lethal triad
- Casualty movement and evacuation techniques
- Advanced techniques, including surgical airway, junctional tourniquets, and triage
- Head trauma and recognizing shock
- Response to active law enforcement incidents within state EMS systems
- Comprehensive, competency-based student demonstrations
