Michael Black has been an instructor with Tomahawk Strategic Solutions since 2018, specializing in law enforcement training and tactics. He has a strong military and law enforcement background that informs his teaching.
Mr. Black served in the United States Navy from 1999 to 2004 as a Search and Rescue Swimmer and completed two deployments with Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 5. He joined the New York Police Department (NYPD) in 2005 and has been a member of the NYPD's Emergency Service Unit (ESU) since 2012. In his role with ESU, he’s received extensive training in Special Weapons and Tactics, High Angle Rope Rescue, Emergency Medical Technician, Public Safety Diving, and Hazmat handling. Having served at Truck 8 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and currently part of the Apprehension Tactical Team (A-Team), Mr. Black brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his instructional role at Tomahawk.
