Joseph Collins is a Senior Instructor at Tomahawk Strategic Solutions. His instruction is informed by his distinguished career in the United States military and local law enforcement. He specializes in delivering tactical training for firearms and close quarters clearance (CQC).
Enlisting in the United States Marine Corps in 1999, Mr. Collins was soon deployed in Bosnia in 2000. Following four years in the Marine Corps, he transitioned to the United States Army, serving an additional six years with distinction and completing two combat tours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. His exemplary service earned him the Bronze Star Medal along with numerous other commendations and awards.
Beyond his military career, Mr. Collins dedicated 14 years to local law enforcement, where he served as a SWAT team leader, Patrol Sergeant, and lead firearms instructor for multiple law enforcement agencies. His expertise extended to the International School of Tactical Medicine, where he served as a firearms and tactics instructor for three years. Notably, Mr. Collins played a crucial role in responding to the April 16, 2007 Virginia Tech incident and he successfully resolved a hostage situation, directly contributing to the safe rescue of a female hostage.
Mr. Collins lives in southwest Virginia with his wife and children. He’s an avid military historian and takes part in the WW2 Airborne Demonstration Team.
